In order to have the best experience, maximize results, and minimize the chances of adverse effects from your tox treatment, please follow these directions.
Prior to your treatment:
o If possible, arrive at your appointment with a clean face. Be aware that if you are wearing makeup, it will be partially removed to clean the skin prior to injecting.
o Review the aftercare instructions to ensure that your plan for the hours after your treatment is conducive to a safe and effective result.
o Avoid aspirin, vitamin E, St. John's wort, and any other dietary supplements including gingko, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, & ginseng for 2 weeks. Talk to your doctor before stopping aspirin.
o Avoid ibuprophen and alcohol for 2 days.
o If you are on a medically indicated blood thinner, stay on it. Notify your doctor of your upcoming treatment before you arrive for your treatment.
o If you have a history of cold sores, talk to your doctor about starting an antiviral medication 3 days prior to your treatment. There is a risk that needle punctures could contribute to an eruption of cold sores.
After your treatment:
o Avoid pressure to the face/head for 4-6 hours as this may alter the placement of tox. This means no:
o Hats or other tight headwear
o Touching, rubbing, or massaging the area(s)
o Washing your face
o Massages
o If you would like to reapply makeup, do so gently over the treatment areas.
o For 12 hours, avoid anything that causes flushing of or increased circulation to the face. This includes:
o Exercise
o Hair washing and blow-drying
o Hot showers
o Saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, etc.
o Avoid other facial treatments such as lasers, peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, etc. for 7 days.
o Keep upright for four hours after the injections. Avoid lying down or leaning forward when possible.
o Gently apply a cool compress to the treated areas for 15 minutes as needed to reduce discomfort, swelling, or bruising.
Optimal results are in 14 days. Wait at least 14 days after your injections to start to evaluate the success of the treatment. A complimentary post treatment assessment (between days 14 to 21) is strongly encouraged.
